was once a solid ball a long time ago. Way before your time.
It is comprised of 5 gods known to work together to keep the planet prosperous.
It is to be thought that during an argument between two gods- Valore fractured. Their lack of harmony has split this planet into several floating islands, releasing ancient magicks locked away long ago.
There are 10 or so known islands.
At first bridges were built but whether it be war or decay, several have been severed.
You are on the first island, to start in Malna.
There a few countries surrounding to (TO BE ADDED)
The first island features two large countries, a medium, and 3 smaller surrounding settlements (this includes Malna.)
One of the large countries is balanced, trade is all well.
The second country is afflicted by a disease spreading through trade routes. They are being locked from the outside world right now.
The medium country is doing fine, it is one of the train manufacturers and lead spots for testing magic innovations.
One small country is recently at peace from a war, the other is starting a war with the third island over politics.
The island is comprised of a small jungle, swampland, hills leading into mountains, and a strangely temperate forest.
is sandwiched between the swamp and small jungle. It's mostly just a temperate forest.
Its a theocracy, lead by a High Priestess. Self appointed by the gods, of course.
There is a hill in the center of Malna, not very big. It holds a ship. Yknow- like a boat? Nobody really knows how it got there, the priestess claims it was a gift from the the gods and we need to dedicate all we know to them.
(Simon dev note: maybe put in npc section) The priestess has been known to pay off commoners in town to do tasks for her, sometimes she'll post under the task board with false names
Malna has been very prestigious as of recent with discovering magic technology.
Their most recent advance has been concealed floating platforms around the town that can only be activated by authorities for defense purposes.
Malna is mostly comprised of elves and humans but languages taught often includes Dwarvish due to the mid sized country being settled by dwarves.
When the boat atop the hill was discovered, Malna was formed around it. Somce the priestess appointed herself, a lot of documented history was burned. For a while she demanded the magic scholars of Malna to harness the worlds powers and try to make a flying boat system, as its what the gods would have wanted. This did not work. Malna allocated so many resources into this and the Medium country progressed far faster with their trains- the most we got was the platforms.
After the fallout of [placeholder names:] the 1st and 3rd deity, the world was never the same.
Magic flows through the seperations that were once a whole earth
a vibrant, hopeful light fills parts of the void visible through the... Nothingness.
This magic is what continues to hold these islands together. They are seperated by people and conflict yet all united by the same resource: this magical force.
The islands are so small mana is in an overabundance. They need to put it to use!
Magic will never run out, infinetly reuseable so long as it's being cycled person to person and in and out of the core.
When magic is used, it's called out of the core and into their hands. People who never would've been worthy in the eyes of the gods will bullshit their way into power. (High...Priestess...)
The classes all take it in their different ways,
There are clerics who harness by devoting their faith in return
There are the warlocks, who have devoted their soul
Druids have spent their time since the split studying the magic and how it interacts with nature: Nature's Magic.
Wizards have also dedicated themselves to learning all there is to the magic of the world
Sorcerers are said to be chosen, born with the innate access to certain kinds of magic
Bards have found their own ways to use magic in tandem with their song

Magic is often used to enhance existing technology while more modern and familiar things are in the kink ironing process.
Arrows are enhanced, the blast power of a rudimentary gun (technology that has been on the horizon) is wider, stronger, deadlier.
People have been turning to magic for war. The trains were in good faith. Maybe not the high priestess, though- her boats were only to spread her word. (she won't tell you it like that. Don't ask.)
